Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Recently two someones that we love got married....the wedding was at the court house, but we still felt the Bride needed some of the traditional wedding items.

I am always being teased about all of the treasures that I save...well once again one of my treasures came in handy!  I picked this little box up at a garage sale and it was just the thing I needed to hold the Bride's 'Borrowed and Blue' trinkets.

I went through my stash of vintage cards - and while I was searching got a little bit lost in time - my stash are cards saved from my Nonnie and Honey and there are so many memories there.  When I go through the stack of cards I recognize names that I haven't heard in years and find mementos of birthdays, anniversaries, father's days and mother's days.  It is such a blessing to have these!

I made copies of the cards that I wanted to use so I could cut them up and glue them to the box.

Now with my box all ready to go, it was time for the old, new, borrowed, and blue!

The something old...a vintage hankie...

something new...lip balm...

I water coloured little tags to put with each item

something borrowed... my Lane lent her vintage brooch and it looked just perfect on the Bride!

Something blue...a small journal.

A bit of fancy paper in the bottom of the box, add the trinkets and Voila! - Old, New, Borrowed and Blue!

A special present for a special Bride!

Road Trip!!!

Not long ago my newly 18 and adult girlie went on her first road trip...

I wanted to do something special to celebrate this fun and exciting event and decided upon a little scavenger hunt.

I gathered together notebooks, fancy papers, pens, stickers, tape, glue, scissors....

and then I put together a little road trip scavenger hunt!

The idea being that the girls would do the things on their scavenger hunt list and then start to create a journal of their times together.

I got a box and put together a scavenger list for each girlie and the other supplies I had gathered.

I have to say I may have gotten a bit carried away....there are lots of fun scrapbooking/journaling goodies out there!

All packaged up and ready to go I gave it to the girlies just before they got into the car to begin their Road Trip Adventure....

It was so fun when Madison got home to see the photos and share the stories that came about from their Road Trip Scavenger Hunt!

Craft Classes!

A few weeks ago the craft supplies came out again for Art Time crafting classes!

I made some blank books so we could create Garden Books...

and I drew some images - some coloured and some to be coloured - to use along with fancy papers to decorate the books.  I also printed up garden tips and recipes so that each book could be full of fun Spring projects.

And, look what those crafty kids came up with!

It is always fun to see the creativity blossom.

Every student has his/her own way of being creative - it is very inspiring.

We learned how to make May Day Posies...and I am hoping that come May Day some lucky people find these hanging from their front doors!

Aren't these the cutest little Spring bunnies? Made from cotton balls...this is a project that we used to do with my mom!

And as my dad would say...."A good time was had by all!"

Spring Break

It is hard to believe that Spring Break is on it's way out....the time flies when vacation starts.

This vacation there was a lot of costuming to be done for our upcoming La Fille Mal Gardee...
Thanks to one of my sweet friends I have had lots of cups of this lovely tea to enjoy while I sew.

And do you see that puffy sleeve there?  I am proud to say that I taught myself how to make a rolled hem to repair it!

Lots of beautiful things are happening to the costumes....can't wait for you all to see them.  You will be coming to the performance of course...right?

June 15th at what we like to call the New/Old Theatre!  The Merced Theatre!

We are all so excited to be having our performance at this lovely theatre....See you there!

Spring is showing it's colours!

I thought with Spring coming on like it is it might be nice to share some pretty flower pics from near and far...

I just love it when the mustard appears....especially in large fields like this.

Then there is my dad's garden always full of wonderful blossoms...redbud, forsythia, snow balls, hyacinths, freesia...just to name a few.

This says Spring to me also...a stray bubble...just the thing to do on a warm Spring day!

A trip to Filoli is inspirational in the Spring.  Just look at those colour combinations.

And, it wouldn't quite be Spring without experiencing the beauty of Wisteria. So delicate and lovely.

Just a little taste of what Spring brings...go out and enjoy because it is always gone much too quickly!

A New Addition

We have a new kitty....we did not plan to have a new kitty....I really did not want a new kitty...but...

none the less...there is a new kitty living in our house.  Brian brought this kitty into the house and I kind of screamed and jumped when he did!  I don't know what I thought was in that cardboard box...after all why would he bring a snake or large spider or such into the house and then ask me to look at it?! But I really didn't want to see a kitty either.  Don't get me wrong, I love kitties, I have been known to have 5 or 6 of them at a time...in the past...when  I was young...not now...I didn't want to take care of a kitty now.

But then Madison saw the kitty - oh, she is such a kitty lover - and she said I will take care of the kitty...I will feed it, I will clean the litter box, I will teach it manners, I will love it and hug it...and she has done just that! Well to be perfectly honest we are still working on the manners thing...

This was a tiny kitty so it needed to be fed every 3 or so hours with this neat little syringe gadget...and Madison did that.  When the kitty got lost in the garage (the kitty was in the garage because I was sure he had all kinds of wild cat diseases...) she found the kitty. When the kitty was afraid she sat with the kitty.  She did all the Mama cat things and now to that kitty she is the Mama!

This kitty is a boy kitty...the only boy other than Brian in our house! And we named him Nick because we found him in December. Cute huh?! Some people have been known to call him Pic-nic...cute too huh?! And do you know what?

I love him too!

He is a bit of a Dickens...he lives in the bathroom a lot, cause he can't be trusted at large in the house on his own.  This is his favorite perch..and mind you that shelf used to be filled with all kinds of cute little antique bathroom items which he knocked right to the floor. Darn that Nick! But....I do love him and Thank You to Madison for being his Mama so I can just love him!
