Remembering Stuart...

"I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day."
EB White

I love this quote by a favorite author - I have fond memories of reading Stuart Little as a child.

This cover is just like the one on my childhood book!

The world created in that book fascinated me as I have always loved tiny things...from the doll house that my grandfather built for me to the many small toys that I have gathered even into my adulthood. Yes, there is a shelf in our house that holds Mom's toys - I take them down every so often to dust them, and when my girlies were little this was the only time that they might actually get to touch Mom's toys.

So back to the quote -as I read it I thought...maybe we make the world a better place just by enjoying it. Yes, I think so - and that makes it a little easier for me to plan my day.

  1. Heidi...My mother had found and given me my book a few years ago. It was very cool to even find a piece of binder paper in the back where I had illustrated where Heidi had lived. Cool to find old things like that. It has to be over 30 years old.

  3. The Velveteen Rabbit. It got me through every stomachache, flu, cold, and spanking. It quickly became my "feel-good" book, and it still is to this day.
